Why Trust Is the Invisible Force Behind Every Flight

Por qué la confianza es el motor invisible de cada vuelo

There is a moment, just before your feet leave the ground, when everything comes down to one thing: trust. Not in the wind, not in the wing, but in the person flying with you. At Brisa, we have spent over 25 years building that moment, flight by flight, passenger by passenger. And we have learnt that trust in a paragliding flight is never declared — it is demonstrated.

Every Flight Begins on the Ground

Before the wing inflates and the horizon of Costa Adeje opens up before you, the flight has already begun. It begins with the briefing.

Your pilot-instructor will walk you through every step of what is about to happen — calmly, and in your own language. How to walk at take-off, how to sit in the harness, what sensations to expect and when. There is no rush. No small print. At Brisa, that moment of communication is just as important as the flight itself, because that is where the sense of calm begins — the calm that will stay with you throughout the entire glide.

This pre-flight briefing is not a formality. It is the first act of a bond between pilot and passenger, built on honesty and experience.

Your Pilot-Instructor

When you climb into a tandem paraglider, you are not just stepping into a wing. You are stepping into decades of accumulated experience. Brisa’s pilot-instructors are certified Paragliding Sports Technicians, holding international qualifications including APPI and FAI IPPI, with a career spanning flights in widely varied conditions across the Canary Islands and beyond.

They know the microclimate of southern Tenerife like few others. They can read the thermal currents rising from the ravines, interpret the behaviour of the trade winds before each take-off, and choose the precise moment when conditions are at their best. This reading of the sky — what in aerology we call meteorological analysis — is the first layer of safety. Invisible to the passenger, but absolutely decisive.

If the sky is not in the right condition, we do not fly. It is that straightforward. It is that clear.

The Equipment

At Brisa, comprehensive safety is not a slogan. It is something you can see, touch and verify before take-off.

Every tandem paragliding flight is conducted with:

A certified tandem wing, less than two years old and subject to regular preventive maintenance.

A passenger harness individually adjusted by your pilot, designed so you feel as comfortable as you would in your favourite armchair.

A certified helmet, gloves and knee pads for a smooth, controlled landing.

An emergency reserve parachute integrated into the system, inspected and certified to the standards of the Spanish Aeronautical Federation (FAE).

Public Liability Insurance with coverage of £1,600,000.

Every carabiner that clicks shut, every buckle that is fastened, is a gesture of commitment. Not routine. The ritual of someone who understands that every flight matters.

Flying Over Southern Tenerife

Southern Tenerife is not just a spectacular landscape. From an aerological standpoint, it is one of the most stable and predictable environments for paragliding in the whole of Europe.

The trade winds arriving from the North Atlantic are channelled and softened by the island’s topography. Teide National Park, which dominates the horizon behind you during the flight, acts as a natural barrier that regulates atmospheric conditions on the southern slopes. The result is stable, pleasurable flights with an air quality that few places in the world can match.

Our usual take-off point, Taucho, sits at over 800 metres above sea level. The wing rises gently above the Barranco del Infierno, whose depth will leave you speechless. As you gain altitude, the silhouette of La Gomera appears on the Atlantic horizon, accompanying you throughout the glide. The landing — smooth and controlled — takes place in the Costa Adeje area, with the turquoise waters of the Atlantic as your backdrop.

Every element of this landscape plays a role in your experience. And we know it by heart.

Excitement with Confidence

Many of our passengers arrive with a mix of excitement and anticipation. That is entirely natural. The energy you feel before take-off, that flutter in your stomach, is pure adrenaline — and it is part of the experience.

What makes Brisa different is that this adrenaline is always accompanied by calm. Your pilot-instructor does not just handle the wing. They manage the emotional atmosphere of the flight. With a steady voice, with humour when it is called for, with silence when the moment demands it. Because there are instants in the air — gliding above the ravine, with Teide in the distance and the Atlantic shimmering beneath your feet — where words are simply not needed.

What remains is freedom. Peace. And the certainty that you are exactly where you should be.

Paragliding Safety FAQs

Do I need previous experience to fly in a tandem paraglider?
Not at all. Tandem flight is designed precisely so that anyone, with no prior knowledge whatsoever, can enjoy the experience. Your pilot-instructor takes care of everything.

How do I know the equipment is in good condition?
At Brisa we carry out regular preventive maintenance on all our equipment. The tandem wing is less than two years old, and the emergency reserve parachute is certified to FAE standards.

What happens if the weather conditions are not suitable on the day of my flight?
Safety is always the priority. If conditions are not right, the flight is rescheduled. Our pilots analyse the weather forecast and local aerological conditions before every departure.

Can I fly at any time of year?
Yes. Southern Tenerife’s stable microclimate allows flying practically all year round, with availability even for last-minute bookings.

How do I book?
The quickest way is via WhatsApp. You can also use the contact form. We respond almost immediately.

Is the transfer included?
Yes. The transfer service from your accommodation in the Costa Adeje, Playa de las Américas, Los Cristianos, Playa Paraíso and Callao Salvaje areas is included at no extra cost.

At Brisa we do not simply sell flights. We share something far more valuable — an act of trust. Every time a passenger hands us that moment, the moment of leaving the ground and letting go, we receive it with the same sense of responsibility and wonder as we did on the very first day.

Ready to fly? The skies of southern Tenerife are waiting for you.
